Amaze Gourmet Spice brings a confident flourish to Whitley Bay, celebrating Indian cookery with colour, comfort and balance.

From the first crackle of poppadoms to the last swipe of naan, it is a kitchen that favours aromatic layers over bravado, letting slow-cooked sauces and warm spices do the talking.

The opening act sets the tone: poppadoms arrive with a lively pickle tray, priming the palate for smoke, spice and crunch. Chefs Khazana gathers seekh kebab, tikka, onion bhaji and samosa on one generous platter, a mini tour of textures. For a bright counterpoint, the samosa with tamarind chutney offers a sweet and sour lift that lingers enticingly.

Mains lean into time-honoured comforts. Chicken tikka masala brings almond, coconut and tomato into silky accord, while Dhakeswari chicken folds fenugreek and butter into a creamy embrace.

Vegetarians are well met with vegetable garlic methi saag and paneer khata masala, with bombay potatoes and saag paneer on hand for extra richness. Pilau rice or zeera rice catches every last drop, and warm plain or garlic naan completes the picture.

The result is unhurried dining shaped by familiar favourites and a few well-judged surprises, ideal for easy evenings and good conversation. After all, life tastes better with a little amazement.
