Chez Mal - Newcastle

Once in a while, a restaurant really gets it right. Chez Mal is one of these.

Tucked inside Malmaison, it brings effortless style and a splash of personality to the local dining scene. Chez Mal has always hit the sweet spot of great dining atmosphere and classic British dishes with a cool contemporary vibe, and their Newcastle location is no different.

The menu opens with a tasty tease, like plump Gordal olives or crisp sourdough bread with rose harissa butter, before moving to heavier starters from baked queenie scallops to roast beets with glazed saffron poached pear.

Then comes the showstopper. Scottish heritage breed beef, grass-fed and hand-prepared by an award-winning butcher, served with roasted onion that’s anything but ordinary. Save room for dessert because the sticky toffee pudding is rich, gooey and everything a proper ending should be.

All in all, a very friendly place to eat dinner indeed. Pull back the curtain and enter a place where life tastes great. They’ll be waiting for you.
