In the heart of Holywell Village, The Fat Ox sets an easy rhythm for unhurried dining.

This is the kind of place where conversation flows, glasses catch the light, and the day seems to slow just a touch. The name hints at hearty hospitality, but the experience is as much about comfort as it is about occasion.

The kitchen’s compass points squarely towards flavour. Expect plates that favour balance over bravado like their classic beef lasagne layered with slow-cooked minced beef in a rich tomato and wine sauce. Or, the crispy chicken kiev served with hand-cut chips.

From the grill, the Fat Ox burger is their signature, stacking a juicy patty with crispy bacon and onion chutney on a toasted brioche. They also offer a range of pizza from classica margherita to spicy chilli beef. It is food designed for lingering: satisfying, well-judged and quietly confident, the sort that feels right on a midweek evening as much as it does for a celebratory gathering with friends.
