dinner

In Whickham, Jashn brings a considered take on Indian cuisine, balancing comfort and craft.

The opening moments set the tone: crisp poppadoms, a lively pickle tray of mango, onion, mint yoghurt and mixed pickle, and the promise of a meal that unfolds with purpose.

Starters show breadth and confidence. Chefs Khazana gathers seekh kebab, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, onion bhaji and samosa into a generous showcase, a tour of textures from tender to crisp and flaky. For something silkier, goa king prawn folds spinach and almond into a creamy, gently spiced sauce, the sort that demands one more scoop.

Mains continue the arc. Chicken tikka masala leans creamy, with almond, coconut and tomato bringing warmth and a touch of sweetness, while charred and skewed chicken jalfrezi turns up the brightness, its stewed chicken lifted by crispy onion, tomatoes and green chillies. The menu moves with ease between mild comforts and bolder, medium heat, letting diners find their own rhythm.

Whether it is a leisurely supper or a celebratory spread, Jashn keeps the focus on flavour and good company. Gather your favourites, bring an appetite, and let Whickham’s spice trail begin - curry on.
