In Gosforth, Babucho brings the relaxed spirit of a brasserie to classic Italian cooking. Expect familiar favourites, polished execution and crowd-pleasing appeal.

The opening act leans into simplicity: burrata and tomato bruschetta on toasted Tuscan bread, bright with pesto and basil. For something indulgent, Spanish-style croquettes arrive with a silken bechamel, flecks of ham and parmesan and a garlicky aioli that begs a second bite.

From there, the oven and the stove share the spotlight: a Margherita that lets tomato, mozzarella and basil sing, and a pepperoni piccante served flat or folded into a calzone. Bowls of mushroom risotto hum with truffle and parmesan, while linguine Bolognese weaves slow-cooked beef through a rich tomato ragu.

Babucho is built for easy-going meals and lingering conversations. Unfussy plates, generous flavours and a pace that suits the moment.
