On the cusp of Spitalfields Market, Franco Manca Bishopsgate couples sourdough craft with a streak of urban art. Inside the bright, two-floor space, an alphabet mural by Ben Eine and works from London College of Communication students set a lively, local tone. Whether sliding in for a quick stop or settling in for a slow lunch, the mood is warm, buzzy and unmistakably creative.

The kitchen leans into Italian simplicity, letting first-rate ingredients do the talking. Airy, tangy sourdough bases carry the clean honesty of a margherita or the indulgent whisper of truffle with burrata. Tables gather around easy-to-share bites: olives, tarallini and smoked almonds, or an antipasti platter layered with buffalo mozzarella, vine tomatoes, artichoke and inky Kalamata olives under a balsamic gloss. Salads skew sunshine-bright, from grain-lifted Mediterranean bowls to yellowfin tuna with capers and baby spinach.

Glasses tilt towards an Aperol spritz or a chilled Prosecco, while homemade lemonade keeps things fresh and unfussy. A tidy list of Italian wines and a parting shot of limoncello reward the lingerers. To close, think affogato’s hot-cold embrace or baked cheesecake dotted with amaretti cherries.

With its art-clad walls and friendly hum, this Bishopsgate pizzeria captures the city’s rhythm plate by plate. Swing by for sourdough, stay for the spirit. Book a table or drop in on a whim, and let the crust take centre stage. Slice, slice, hooray.
