Holy Carrot Spitalfields brings Spitalfields energy to a vegetable‑forward bistro where innovation meets ease. The kitchen leans into live fire and fermentation, drawing out primal smoke and bright tang while keeping things elegant. Inside, it is warm and fashionably understated; a place made for lingering over plates and a glass of good wine, with an atmosphere that feels individual and rooted in its surroundings.
Flavour here is layered and assured rather than showy. The opening Holy D'Oeuvres set the tone with Koti-Cured Vegetables alongside tofu and pickles, and seasonal crudités with a creamy white bean dip. Starters balance silk and scorch: burrata lifted by smoked pepper and a citrus dressing; coal-roasted leeks brought to life with smoked carrot hot sauce, chilli and hazelnut.
Pizzettas and flatbreads nod to distant shores: Khachapuri (Baked Egg, Molten Cheese, Black Pepper) arrives oozy and aromatic, while a smoked chilli mushroom ragu offers deep comfort. Mains champion texture and technique—an artichoke tempeh schnitzel under a gloss of Café de Paris butter, and British king oyster mushroom with peppercorn and Dulce sauce—joined by a nostalgic Japanese potato salad. For a finale, choose a sharing tiramisu for three or a choc cremeux with malt caramel and rice.
A stylish room, good wine, and vegetables stealing the spotlight—this is Spitalfields dining with a wink. Book a table, bring an appetite, and let the carrots run riot.
