In Marston Green, Karaage champions Japan’s original fried chicken, tracing its story back to the 1920s.

Set within Resorts World, this is billed as the UK’s first karaage restaurant, a place where crunch, craft and cultural lineage take centre stage. The name says it all: karaage is the star, presented with a respect for history and a glint of modern swagger.

The menu reads like a love letter to comfort and clarity. Begin with miso soup or takoyaki before leaning into bento box comforts and katsu chicken. Then the headline act: chicken fried the Japanese way, whether as honorable tenders or samurai wings, with sosu ae treatments that glide from teriyaki to curry.

Burgers take their cue from the fryer too, from the daiymo to the katsu-code, while edamame and sweet potato fries keep things bright on the side. Japanese mayo and tonkatsu make faithful dipping companions, and sweet finishes arrive as mochi and dorayaki.

Atmosphere here is part lesson, part celebration. Karaage folds in references to samurai etiquette and culinary heritage without losing the easygoing pleasure of a casual feast, inviting diners to learn a little as they indulge a lot.

Curious for the real crunch? Pay Karaage a visit at Resorts World and follow the way of flavour.
