The White Lodge

Just off the A11 in Attleborough, The White Lodge pairs centuries of history with a modern dining experience.

Set within a Grade II-listed 15th-century coaching inn, it balances heritage and comfort with an easy welcome for locals and visitors alike. Well-behaved dogs are invited too, adding to the relaxed, come-one-come-all spirit.

In the kitchen, it's all about home-cooked plates and fresh, local ingredients. Think a pulled beef and horseradish croquette brightened by pickled shallots and crushed walnuts, or a goat's cheese and caramelised onion tart lifted with lemon and mint.

Classic British comforts are given due care, from minted lamb and onion pie served alongside seasonal greens to pan-fried sea bass accompanied by samphire and chorizo.

There's character on the grill as well, featuring the Wendling Beck venison burger crowned with blue cheese and red berry and balsamic chutney, before desserts tempt with a cherry Bakewell tart or a rhubarb and custard posset.

Settle in for an unhurried lunch or a lingering supper, and let the historic inn work its charm. Plan a visit, pull up a chair, and tuck in!
