Since 1996, Tia’s Mexican Cantina has been serving bold flavours and big smiles, bringing its independent spirit to The Gate in Newcastle City Centre. Everything’s cooked fresh on site with pride and good cheer, from sun-bright salsas to slow-simmered classics.

The menu nods to Mexican street markets and homestyle kitchens alike. Think golden chimichangas topped with creamy guacamole, elotes charred and slathered in Mexican sour cream sauce, and crisp calamari with a lick of garlic. Crowd-pleasers arrive piled high for sharing, from Tia’s Famous Bloomin’ Rose to the sharing nacho stack, all about crunch, heat and that irresistible moreishness.

Mains lean into comfort and character: a smoky barbacoa bowl with chipotle depth over fluffy rice, the rich hum of a velvety, dark chocolate-laced sauce on mole poblano, and staples like chilli con carne and sizzling fajitas with charred onions and peppers. Sides of Mexican rice and refried beans round out plates built for convivial grazing and second helpings.

For meals, milestones or catch-ups with friends, Tia’s sets the scene. A lively invitation to book a table awaits - let the fiesta begin.
