Set within The Vermont Hotel in the historic heart of Newcastle, The Maven pairs stately surroundings with sweeping views of the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside. It's a sophisticated yet relaxed setting where city elegance meets easy-going comfort, and the skyline beyond the windows becomes part of the theatre.

Inspired by global travels yet grounded in classic technique, the kitchen favours bold flavours and polished execution. Sunday lunch brings familiar comforts with a refined touch - from slow-cooked feather blade of beef over creamy mash with red wine jus, to butter-roasted breast of chicken with crisp pancetta chips, and twice-cooked belly pork lifted by aromatic five-spice, soy caramel and pickled ginger.

For something more laid-back, there's crispy battered fish and chips or the venue's signature Maven burger, stacked high with cheddar, crispy onions and burger sauce in a brioche bun.

Sweet endings lean nostalgic, featuring a silky lemon posset with berry compote alongside a classic sticky toffee pudding with vanilla pod ice cream. Little diners don't miss out either, with a dedicated mini menu for under-ten-year-olds at The Vermont that keeps family dining simple and fun.

From leisurely lunches to expertly crafted dinners, The Maven invites guests to linger as the Tyne sparkles. Pull up a chair, take in the view, and make an occasion of it!
