You couldn't get more quintessentially British than this. A friendly local in Hammersmith which is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Kensington Olympia, The Cumberland Arms will always welcome you with open arms.

And when it comes to traditional British pubs, The Cumberland Arms is the real deal. Like walking into a Dickensian novel, this eatery is rustic and warm, keeping things cosy with dark furnishings, softly lit chandeliers and a multitude of candles. Along the wood-panelled walls is a multitude of fascinating memorabilia that is sure to pique your interest whilst those who are in the party spirit will be curious to see what beers are on offer at the stoic bar.

The interior might be very British pub-esque, but the menu sticks with Mediterranean classics. Starters are designed to whisk you away on a sunny vacation where you can snap open steamed mussels, crunch on bruschetta di Pomodoro and tuck into a pheasant and ham hock terrine.

Mains go one step further with braised short rib in a rich wine and porcini sauce, penne with a rich Italian ragu and sausages all the way from Tuscany that are served British style with buttery mash and oceans of meaty gravy. They've even put an Italian spin on The Cumberland Burger with mozzarella, Italian dressings and grilled onions. As for dessert, choose your fighter with sticky toffee pudding or a mountain of profiteroles. This time, you've got to pick a side.
