Skylon rises above Southbank, bringing a modern dining experience with an incredible view of the city skyline.

All clean lines and floor-to-ceiling glass present a quiet spectacle straight over the Thames - elegant without the fuss and contemporary without chill. Service is polished and unhurried, matched to a thoughtful wine list and a calm, design-led room that encourages conversation.

The kitchen champions refined modern British cooking, letting seasonal ingredients speak. To start, chopped salad with kale, radish and radicchio in orange and ginger dressing, or steak tartare crowned with slow-cooked egg yolk, crispy potato and crème fraîche set a bright tone to your evening.

Mains stay confident and classical: hake mornay is baked to perfection and served with confit tomatoes, while the wild mushroom, artichoke and lentil ragu blankets truffle potatoes and winter vegetable crisps. Lastly, the grill brings a 42-day aged grass-fed ribeye with roasted bone marrow and stuffed mushrooms.

Sweet endings lean nostalgic, from treacle tart and sticky toffee pudding to an Eton mess piled with berries, Chantilly, meringue and raspberry sorbet to share.

Watch the river sparkle and let the kitchen do the talking; book soon and make a night of it with a view to dine for.
