Set within Hope Street Hotel in Georgian Quarter, The London Carriage Works marries heritage with modern polish.

Since opening in 2003, this award-winning restaurant has established itself among the city’s leading lights, drawing rave reviews and critical acclaim. Housed in a Venetian palazzo-style building dating back to the 1860s, it nods to its past as a coach and carriage warehouse - the name, carved above the door during renovation, was kept in homage.

Seasonal, local and fresh is the brief, with an à la carte that pivots four times a year and a prix fixe that changes daily. Plates are produce-led and quietly confident. Evenings flow easily here, starting off with artichoke with black garlic and smoked potatoes or flaky seared cod, infused with lemon grass.

The mains let regional ingredients speak in clear, balanced flavours to showcase modern British cooking that feels both grounded and current. Enjoy roasted, dry-aged duck is tender, served with a pomme fondant and smoked yoghurt, or comforting, elevated plates like seared monkfish paired with whipped cheek brandade.

Whether for a quick dinner or a refined evening, this is a Liverpool classic that rewards unhurried appetites. Reserve a spot, settle in, and let the carriage ride carry you through the seasons.
