In Garston, Liverpool, DUM-PUKHT Classic Indian Restaurant and Bar pays homage to the regal cookery of the subcontinent, where patience and fire do the talking.

The namesake method of slow cooking seals in spice and scent, yielding meats that fall to tenderness and sauces with quiet, lingering depth. It is a cuisine built on time-honoured craft, presented with contemporary poise. Inside, the room is elegant yet welcoming, service is genuinely warm, and plates land with rich aromas and polished presentation.

The menu reads like a gentle journey across India’s cherished flavours. Fragrant dum biryanis unfurl with heady aroma, curries arrive glossy and indulgent, and kebabs meet the charcoal with a whisper of smoke. Street-side pleasures bring brightness in chaat and pani puri, while momos offer soft, steamy comfort.

A playful Indo-Chinese thread runs through Hakka noodles and Schezwan chicken fried rice, and the tandoor sends out its sizzlers, from tandoori chicken to salmon tikka. Even a bowl of mulligatawny soup nods to Britain’s long conversation with South Asian spice.

Whether it is a relaxed family supper, a special celebration or a simple craving for something exceptional, DUM-PUKHT rewards unhurried appetites. Guests can reserve a table and savour the slow-cooked splendour; good things, as ever, come to those who wait.
