A star amongst Bristol's British dining scene, this gastropub goes above and beyond to serve elegant pub food in an upmarket and stylish setting.
The Star and Dove hold a deep fondness for Britain, its traditions and food forming the crux of their dining experience. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle in Totterdown, they have taken the farmhouse aesthetic and transformed it into a deluxe dining space that pops with aquatic blues, mustard yellows, sandy woods and a keen eye for a texture that elevates the humble pub to something remarkably luxurious and fit for any special occasion.
As for the menu, you can only imagine the stars that grace our plates. From Blagdon lamb to Grilled Isle of Wight tomatoes, Newlyn turbot and Wye Valley asparagus, The Star and Dove are putting British food on the global map by using seasonal, local ingredients wherever possible.
Seafood, in particular, receives a lot of airtime due to delicacies like red mullet in a British shellfish sauce, Cornish king crab cakes with plenty of spritzy lemon and scallops from the Isle of Skye. The salmon wellington is also an opulent treat. Made to share between two people, the buttery pastry and melt-in-the-mouth fish are graced by a salmon roe and herb sauce. With divine wine pairings too, as well as a cracker cheese menu, this gastropub really is a star in the making.
