In the heart of Nottingham City Centre, Ugly Bread Bakery champions the simple pleasures of good dough and honest flavour. This is a place where the day starts with warm bread and strong coffee, and where the oven’s glow sets the tone for unfussy, satisfying eating.

Mornings lean generously with ciabatta - perhaps layered with sausage and bacon, or bright with avocado, sun-blushed tomatoes, spinach and grains and nuts. Later, the bakery’s Italian tilt comes to the fore with pizzas that balance comfort and character.

From the purity of a Margherita to courgettes with sun-blushed tomato, chorizo with wet mozzarella or salami with chilli, the toppings roam widely. Those sidestepping tomato can turn to garlic mushrooms with rosemary, or Stilton with mushroom and chorizo, while plant-led choices like garlic and tomatoes or roast vegetables keep things light yet full of flavour.

There’s plenty beyond the slice, too. Think goat's cheese on continental leaves, or garlic and lemon chicken for something heartier, plus homemade soup served all day with sourdough bread. To sip, the counter ranges from cappuccino and mocha to iced lattes and smoothies, suiting quick pit-stops and leisurely pauses alike.

For an easygoing bite that lets good bread do the talking, make Ugly Bread Bakery your next city-centre rendezvous. Drop by for a slice and a smile - it’s crust what you make it!
