Queen of Hockley distils three decades of lessons learned—triumphs and near-misses alike—into a single, spirited hangout in the heart of Nottingham. With craft beers and real ales at the pumps, cocktails and wines close at hand, and live music setting the tempo, it is a place where design, service and a sense of fun pull equal weight.
The kitchen deals in modern British comfort shot through with global flavour. Grazers might start with tomato and basil bruschetta or buttermilk chicken tacos, before moving to seasonal plates such as rolled leg of lamb with mint pesto and a bright tomato and chilli relish. From the coast, crab linguini hums with lime and heat, the sort of bowl that invites a swipe of cheesy garlic bread.
Pub favourites are polished rather than fussy: fish and chips with pea puree, sausage and mash with an onion and beer reduction. There are proper burgers too, from a spiced lamb number with tzatziki to the house QOH Burger, plus breakfasts that mean business, whether a full English or eggs royale. Sweet teeth are well kept with sticky toffee pudding or a chocolate orange cheesecake, while sharers will find comfort in house nachos or a charcuterie board.
Welcoming and unpretentious, Queen of Hockley listens as much as it entertains, inviting guests to tell them what hits the mark. Drop in for a drink, linger for supper, and make a night of it; the crown is yours for the taking.
