In the heart of Newcastle City Centre, Curry Leaf leans into the warmth of South Indian flavours with an easy confidence.

Coconut, tomato and spice set the tone, while a considered balance of heat and comfort invites diners to settle in and savour. This is cooking that celebrates texture and aroma as much as taste, delivering plates that feel both familiar and freshly minted.

Early temptations are designed for sharing and grazing. The pappadam basket lands crisp and moreish, while idi erachi brings smoked pulled beef tangled with onions and garlic, a quietly addictive bite. From the small plates, cauliflower salt and pepper offers a crackle of spice, and tawa paneer delivers char and softness in satisfying tandem.

Heartier dishes continue the theme. Konju masala swathes king prawns in a rich coconut and tomato sauce, while chicken mappas coaxes gentle depth from a mild coconut curry studded with potatoes. Dosa lovers are well served: tear into a buttery, brittle-edged butter dosa or the masala dosa, its spiced potato and onions tucked into a crisp fold built for dipping and tearing.

With a focus on comfort and conviviality, Curry Leaf suits lingering catch-ups as readily as a swift, satisfying supper. Book a table, bring an appetite, and let the spice trail lead the way.
