Located close to Waterloo Station, The Black Penny Southbank brings a relaxed, welcoming energy to one of South London’s busiest riverside neighbourhoods, offering generous meals in a setting that feels both lively and comfortable.

The kitchen focuses on well-balanced dishes that combine familiar favourites with thoughtful twists. To start or share, the selection features excellent Mediterranean-inspired small plates, including smooth butterbean hummus, smoky baba ganoush, and grilled halloumi cheese, all served alongside warm, toasted sourdough.

As appetites grow, the menu moves into substantial, satisfying main courses. The six-ounce flat iron steak arrives tender with skin-on fries and a choice of rich peppercorn or béarnaise sauce, while the pan-fried Scottish salmon is paired with fennel, olives, cherry tomatoes, and capers for a bright, coastal touch.

Guests can also indulge in hearty classics like the slow-braised lamb shoulder with creamy mashed potato or roasted marinated chicken thighs.

Desserts finish things on a comforting note with a rich, burnt Basque cheesecake topped with mixed berry compote or a warm Belgian dark and milk chocolate brownie served with vanilla ice cream.

A curated selection of fresh juices, speciality coffees, and teas rounds out the experience, making The Black Penny Southbank a premier stop for leisurely meals near Waterloo and the riverside.
