Set within a historic converted mill at Elstead, The Mill at Elstead pairs rustic charm with riverside tranquillity. The River Wey drifts past as swans and ducks idle by the old water wheel, setting an unhurried rhythm for lingering lunches and cosy suppers. It is a place steeped in history, where the gentle scenery frames every glass raised and plate served.

The kitchen’s compass points to refined pub classics, guided by fresh, seasonal ingredients. Nibbles such as chili and garlic olives or harissa hummus open the conversation, while a baked Camembert invites sharing. Light bites show thoughtful craft: think ham hock and Cornish Orchards terrine or a wild mushroom Scotch egg, each balancing comfort with a touch of polish.

Mains stay true to beloved traditions. Fish and chips arrive crisp and golden, a 6-oz fillet steak brings simple satisfaction, and triple-cooked chips prove hard to resist. There is room for whimsy, too, with wild boar and Cumberland pigs in blanket, before a warm chocolate brownie draws the curtain on a contented meal.

Whether for a relaxed rendezvous or a celebratory table, this riverside pub invites guests to take their time and savour the moment. Book in, settle by the water, and let the mill work its quiet magic.

Parking is also available on-site free of charge.
