A marriage of sublime cuisines that are thousands of kilometres apart, Nakanojo is attempting to bring two world-opposing destinations together for the culinary adventure of the year.
Japan and Peru meet with dexterity and grace. This joining of forces isn't just limited to the food; the restaurant itself, jolly with pops of turquoise and yellow furniture, celebrates the colour of Peruvian cuisine whilst dazzling wall art represents Japan's rich history of manga and animation. If you're lucky, you can dine under a flowering Sakura tree; those who fancy more privacy can cocoon in any of Nakanojo's partitioned areas that keep things just between friends.
What does such an unlikely pairing look and taste like? Their signature tacos should give you an idea as they fill these typically South American tortillas with slow-cooked wagyu, crispy chicken with gochujang, and shrimp with yellow antitucho mayo. They're also doing the same with Japanese tataki, pairing this national dish with jalapeno ponzu, crushed canchas and pico de Gallo.
The street food offerings provide tasty insight into small plates that are convenient for on-the-go lifestyles. From Spanish and Japanese aubergine to black cod miso, karaage chicken with chipotle and anticucho wings, these are not to be missed. And with an incredible array of sashimi, nigiri and sushi rolls, enjoy these two cuisines all in the same beautiful space.
