Jamie Oliver Catherine St brings a warmly British sensibility to Covent Garden, channelling the chef’s memories and craft into a menu that prizes seasonality and familiarity.
Their menu is an ode to the dishes many grew up with, polished with the know-how of years at the stove and the considered sourcing of British producers. The mood is generous, the cooking assured, and the message clear: British flavours, remembered and refreshed.
Start with Dusty Knuckle sourdough and whipped Bungay butter, then perhaps house gravlax of Loch Duart salmon, stained with beetroot and brightened by vodka and horseradish cream, or a Scotch egg enriched with Stornoway black pudding.
Mains lean hearty yet refined: a game and turkey pie glossed with cranberry sauce; pan-seared duck breast with citrus glaze and silky carrot purée. From the grill, a tomahawk pork chop of Suffolk Blythburgh pork comes with Madeira jus, while a halibut chop is chargrilled on the bone for depth and drama.
Sides such as potato dauphinoise with Wiltshire truffle cream and roasted heritage carrots in honeyed butter bring comfort in spades, before puddings like blackberry pavlova or an apple crumble sundae seal the deal. A dedicated kids’ menu, from crispy fish fingers to sticky lemon chicken, keeps family tables content without fuss.
Make a date in Covent Garden and tuck into nostalgia done properly: smiles guaranteed, crumbs encouraged.
