lunch

Situated on a bustling corner of Moseley in Birmingham, you’ll find Kabuli, a traditional Afghan eatery in a bright, contemporary space. Named after the capital city, the restaurant offers a gateway to the heart of Afghan cuisine, with mouthwatering dishes and a warm atmosphere to boot.

Kabuli Pulao is a must-try. Marrying slow-cooked rice, succulent meat and sweet raisins, this dish offers the authentic Afghan experience in a bowl. The lamb version is aromatic, but you can also try it with chicken, beef, or even vegetarian.

But that’s only the start. The restaurant also prides itself on its BBQ. We’d hunt down the Chapli Kebab, where minced beef is combined with pomegranate seeds, cumin and coriander to form a burger patty and grilled to perfection. You can also tuck into fragrant griddled Seekh Kebabs, and there’s even a BBQ mixed grill for the truly ravenous.

If you fancy something a little different, go for one of the Qormas. Derived originally from Persian cuisine, these dishes are characterised by their subtle blends of spices and herbs such as Qorma-e-Gosht, which is lamb cooked to perfection. They also offer chicken, fish and vegetarian alternatives too.

To add an extra layer of authenticity to your meal, be sure to try the range of sides, from naan bread to dips and traditional Afghan desserts. And with a location like Moseley, you’re in for a real treat. It’s an area known for its independent spirit and laid-back atmosphere. So if you’re wanting tasty Afghan cuisine in a relaxed environment, look no further than Kabuli.
