Since 1978, Everest Restaurant has been Sheffield’s premier balti house - a family-run stalwart in Meersbrook.

Behind its enduring reputation is a kitchen that still grinds its own spices each morning, tends an honest tandoor, and greets regulars with the sort of welcome only decades can season. Independent then and now, it cooks the old way, without shortcuts.

Every balti, biryani, and tandoori order is made from scratch: meats are marinated overnight, spices are toasted and ground fresh, and curries are finished by hand over the flame.

Plates carry the warmth and swagger of the subcontinent, from chicken handi and North Indian garlic lamb to a tandoori mixed grill that sings of smoke. Comforting staples range from onion bhaji and paneer tikka to aloo gobi and tarka dhal, served with fragrant rice and warm naan alongside.

Hospitality is heartfelt, the bar is fully licensed, and the service is as steady as the tandoor’s glow. Whether lingering over a biryani in the dining room or collecting a takeaway, guests find bold flavours and a personal touch that keep generations returning.

Book a table in Meersbrook and let Everest show why, after nearly half a century, Sheffield still climbs back for more.
