Rooted in Norfolk’s pastoral charm, The Chequers Inn brings the soul of an 18th-century country pub to Norwich. Time-worn beams, authentic stone floors, and open fireplaces create a fireside glow, setting the scene for unhurried dining in a characterful space.

The kitchen presents modern British cookery focused on the local larder, marrying shoreline freshness with countryside tradition. A crispy Cromer crab cake with pickled courgette and samphire provides a bright counterpoint to the rustic comfort of chicken liver parfait with burnt thyme mustard cream and toasted sourdough.

Mains refine traditional culinary classics. Golden-battered North Sea haddock with minted mushy peas, chunky chips, and house-made tartare captures coastal nostalgia, while slow-roasted lamb shank with pressed lamb breast, summer herb crushed potatoes, and mint oil delivers rich depth.

Desserts complete the menu, from a dark chocolate and hazelnut marquise paired with salted caramel cremeux and milk chocolate ice cream to a roasted peach Bakewell tart with homemade raspberry ripple ice cream.

Gather your favourite people, find a spot by the fire, and settle in - Norfolk hospitality at its most welcoming.
