A favourite of the late, great restaurant critic AA Gill because of its focus on honest home cooking and young wines, this chic bistro has been drawing well-heeled foodies to Fulham Road since 2012.
Named after the honey which is only produced in New Zealand’s East Cape and is famous for its healing properties, a meal here will leave you feeling satisfyingly rejuvenated. The menu largely focuses on modern European plates such as the home-cured salmon with horseradish cream or the corn-fed chicken salad with giant cous-cous and sun-blushed tomato.
If you can’t choose, opt for the signature dishes, such as the confit duck leg with sweet potato, the grass-fed bavette steak with chimi churi and fries, while the Wagyu beef Bolognese is as comforting as a hot bath on a chilly evening.
The terracotta tiles on the floor hide a decadent secret. 510 Below is an intimate gin bar with superb attention to detail. Ice cubes are double frozen to prevent them from watering down drinks, while the tonic is always Fever-Tree.
