In Streatham, Bar 61 brings the easy rhythm of Spanish dining to South London, where generous hospitality meets plates made for sharing.

The menu draws inspiration from classic Iberian cooking with a contemporary touch, encouraging diners to slow down, order a few dishes and enjoy the moment.

Tapas set the tone. Croquetas de jamón arrive crisp and golden with sweet bell peppers, while gambas al ajillo delivers prawns sizzling in garlic and olive oil, perfect for scooping up with grilled bread. It is fragrant, comforting and naturally sociable, the kind of food that works best when passed around the table.

Mains balance land and sea with equal confidence. A sirloin steak with chimichurri is served with baby potatoes and salad, while seabass cooked in the Josper with citrus butter brings gentle garlic richness over sliced potatoes.

The seafood paella offers a proper centrepiece, filled with saffron warmth and finished with aioli, while a vegetarian paella provides the same depth of flavour without the seafood.

Lastly, dessert keeps to the classics, with silky crema catalana and a traditional tarta de Santiago served with ice cream and white chocolate.

With bold flavours, generous portions and a laid back atmosphere, Bar 61 captures the spirit of Spanish dining where good food, good company and an extra glass of wine always feel like the right idea.
