dinner

Tucked into Spitalfields, Dang's champions Thai-inspired bar food with a bright, punchy streak.

The focus is on texture and balance: crisp against tender, heat against citrus, savoury against sweet. It is the kind of cooking that invites a second bite before the first has quite finished, lively and satisfying without ever feeling heavy.

The menu plays to the strengths of the style. Vegetable spring rolls arrive shatteringly crisp with a sweet chili dipping sauce, while som tam thai cuts through with green papaya, peanuts and the snap of cherry tomatoes.

Fried chicken hat yai is marinated and deep-fried to a golden crunch, best chased with sticky rice. For seafood lovers, Deep Fried Prawns with Thai Spicy Herb deliver aromatic lift and a satisfyingly brittle bite. Across the board, the quartet of Thai tastes (sweet, sour, salty and spicy) finds an easy, bar-friendly rhythm.

It all adds up to unfussy plates made for grazing, sharing and lingering over conversation. Whether seeking a quick nibble or a spread to savour, Dang's serves comfort with a zing. Drop by, order a little bit of everything, and let the chilli do the talking.
