Amid the creative hum of Fitzrovia, Sagar champions authentic South Indian vegetarian cookery with roots in Udupi traditions.

The kitchen favours balance over bravado, letting tempering, tang, and texture lead the way. Recipes are time-honoured yet nimble, attuned to contemporary tastes while holding fast to the clarity of spice that makes this cuisine sing.

Thalis set the tone - the South Indian thali and Rajdani thali map a journey of flavours on a single platter. From the crackle of a crisp dosa to the gently spiced masala dosa, and the comforting lift of a soft uthappam or onion uthappam, textures stay centre stage.

Street-side nostalgia arrives with pani puri and bhel puri, while chef-special favourites like paneer 65 and gobi 65 bring a lively kick. Bowls of rasam or dal soothe, with chana masala, sambar, and a fragrant vegetable biryani rounding things off.

The welcome’s unhurried and genuinely warm, with thoughtful touches for different preferences, including several dishes prepared without onion or garlic. Vegetarian and vegan diners are well looked after, and the mood suits both quick lunch catch-ups and lingering dinner meals.

Settle in, follow the shimmer of spice, and let the dosa do the talking. Ready to tuck in? Book a table and savour the Sagar, one crisp bite at a time!
