Ragam in Fitzrovia channels the soulful cooking of the Indian subcontinent with a distinctly southern lilt.

The journey runs from crisp, griddled comfort to slow-simmered warmth: a masala dosa wrapped around spiced potato - vada pricked with ginger and green chillies - onion bhaji in chickpea batter - and a restorative dal soup scented with garlic, coriander and black pepper.

Regional notes appear in lamb Malabar and a traditional Kerala meat curry, where rich, savoury depth takes centre stage. A playful heat courses through chilli paneer and chilli chicken, where onions and peppers bring crunch to a tangy, moreish finish.

Fragrant rice dishes add another dimension, with mixed and lamb biryanis sending up aromatic steam. Vegetarians find equal pleasure in paneer butter masala, all silk and spice, and vegetable jalfrezi with its lively, stir-fried bite.

The experience invites sharing, with plates landing in a rhythm that swings from crisp to saucy. It's a menu of balance: comforting, bold, and quietly transportive. Come for a swift dosa or settle in over biryani - either way, expect honest flavours and a sure hand with spice.
