In the heart of the capital’s theatreland, Sagar Covent Garden brings the comfort and clarity of traditional South Indian vegetarian cooking to Central London.

Drawing on time-honoured recipes and quality ingredients, its kitchen turns out dishes with quiet confidence: the sour-sweet tang of chutneys, the lift of toasted spices, the soothing depth of slow-simmered lentils. With an inviting glow and easy-going rhythm, it’s as suited to a swift pre-theatre bite as to an unhurried supper.

Street-side brightness arrives via pani puri and bhel puri, while rasam offers a restorative heat. Chef specials such as paneer 65 and gobi 65 bring a lively crackle of spice, while those craving familiar comforts will spot pillow-soft idli, crisp-edged dosa from carefully fermented batters, and the extra crunch of rava dosa.

For a full tour on a single platter, the menu traces beloved contours of the South from a South Indian thali to the Rajdani thali. These generous platters gather rice, dal, sambar, vegetables, raitha and kurma, finished with pappadam and a sweet touch.

Inside, the room’s warm, and the air suits both casual drop-ins and more discerning diners seeking authenticity and detail. Settle in for honest flavours and meticulous preparation, then make a date to return. Book a table, catch the evening breeze, and let the dosa steal the show!
