In Covent Garden, Joe Allen channels the hum of a downtown New York bar and brasserie. Exposed red brick, rich wood and brass accents set the scene - it's cosy yet sophisticated. A natural rendezvous for theatre-goers and locals, this is a room built for conversation, warm hospitality and relaxed dining.

Across the menu, the cooking leans classic and transatlantic. Briny Colchester rock oysters and Joe’s shrimp cocktail set a breezy, East Coast tone. Comforting bowls of tomato rigatoni and cacio e pepe offer simple pleasures, while from the grill come straight-talking mains: Joe’s bacon double cheeseburger with caramelised onions and house relish, a grilled lemon sole glossed with clarified butter, parsley and capers, and steaks from rump to sirloin.

To complement the mains, sides keep things simple - truffle and Parmesan fries for indulgence, green leaf salad with French vinaigrette for crisp balance - before a sweet finish of baked vanilla cheesecake or a New Yorker’s pecan tart crowned with whipped cream.

Whether it's a pre-theatre pitstop or an unhurried supper, Joe Allen delivers big-hearted flavour and effortless charm. Book in, settle back, and let Covent Garden meet the Big Apple - with a wink and a napkin.
