On the edge of Liverpool city centre’s Chinatown, Chamber 36 offers a polished take on Chinese dining with an emphasis on sharing. This contemporary restaurant and bar draws on classic Chinese flavours and serves them in a modern small-plates style, perfect for grazing, swapping and returning to favourites. Dishes arrive with pace and colour, sparking conversation and curiosity.

The menu ranges from Chinese small plates and salt-and-pepper favourites to freshly steamed dim sum. Expect char siu bao and xiao long bao alongside wok-fired comforts such as beef ho-fun and black pepper udon. Bowls bring familiar pleasures — crispy chilli beef, sweet and sour — while fresh greens like pak choi or pan-fried asparagus with soy and garlic keep things bright. Signature dishes include rib-eye steak with teriyaki glaze, pan-fried salmon and a generous Yeung Chow fried rice, each offering a balance of sweetness, heat and umami.

Inspired by the Shaolin monk’s journey through 35 chambers to the calm of the 36th, Chamber 36 aims for the same sense of harmony on the table: body, mind and appetite in tune. The mood is contemporary and sociable, the experience relaxed yet lively — ideal for catch-ups, dates and a little culinary exploration. Step inside, follow your own path through the chambers of flavour, and find your moment of balance — chopsticks at the ready.
