They’re Welsh and exceedingly proud of it. Inspired by Wales’s plentiful lands and rolling green landscapes, The Welsh House is a country retreat in the middle of the capital.
Making its home in a historical building on the high street, The Welsh House boasts a distinguished and smart exterior that leaves a lasting impression. Inside, it’s not as formal as you might have imagined; indeed, impeccable interior design has resulted in a communal area made up of a variety of slick dining styles made up of beautifully upholstered furniture and hosted in The Welsh House’s modern take on a gastropub.
As you can probably guess, their menu is composed of local and regional specialties, which make for an unforgettable supper. To begin, indulge in Wales’s most comforting flavours with a curried leek and potato soup, Welsh House’s specialty pig pot with Melba toast, and cheese croquettes with ingredients sourced straight from Y Fenni.
The main course is taking it up a gear with Welsh Celtic cuts of pride rump, pride fillet, and a pride beef burger served with skin-on chips and crispy potato cakes. And whilst Welsh people might love their meat, there’s no resisting a plant-based burger in all its vegan deliciousness or the fantastically cheesy aubergine parmigiana. And with ever-changing specials too, here’s an ancient cuisine you can fall in love with all over again.
