The Red Lion Amblecote

With roots reaching back to 1835, The Red Lion Amblecote began life as a local brewery in Amblecote, Stourbridge. In the last eight years it has been reimagined as a thriving neighbourhood pub, pairing real ales and craft ales with a freshly minted sense of style. A full refurbishment has lent the interiors a quirky charm, while a hidden gem of a beer garden waits out back for those long, lazy afternoons.

The kitchen favours honest, crowd-pleasing cooking done well. Think cobs stuffed with brisket of beef or mature cheddar, stacked sandwiches and toasties, and burgers that do not mess about, with homemade chips never far away. The signature Lion Burger is a hearty staple, while the Chicken U.S.A. Burger brings cheese, bacon, onion rings and a lick of BBQ sauce. Lighter bites run from a southern fried chicken wrap to sharing wings with sauces to suit, and plant-based eaters are looked after with a sweet chilli falafel wrap and the cleverly named V.U.S.A.
