On bustling Ecclesall Road, Bistrobar brings a warm, modern welcome to Sheffield. Its friendly, contemporary dining room sets the tone for everything from birthday suppers and anniversary toasts to polished business catch-ups.

The kitchen favours bold, sun-leaning flavours and fire-kissed technique. Nibbles of tahini hummus crowned with pistachios and house-infused oil arrive with homemade flatbread, while freshly baked focaccia meets a silken compound butter. Small plates lean into Mediterranean accents: wood-fired hispi cabbage with pickled and crispy shallots, Greek chicken skewers nestled on hummus and flatbread. An in-house butchery underpins the mains, from hand-cut steaks to black garlic steak and wild mushroom spaghetti, or pan roasted lamb cutlets brushed with harissa and cooled with tzatziki and a crisp potato rosti.

Comfort comes by the slice too, with Margherita Casa and Pepperoni Salsiccia fresh from the oven, and sides made for sharing, such as truffle, rosemary and parmesan fries or golden hasselback potatoes. A duo of dips, pesto drizzle and hot honey, add a last lick of colour and heat to the table.

Gather friends, choose your moment and reserve a table; at Bistrobar, convivial plates, modern polish and Ecclesall Road energy make easy company. Go on, take a seat and savour the story.
