dinner

Tucked into the creative quarter of Norwich City Centre, The Last is a buzzing wine bar and brasserie where the city’s artistic energy meets relaxed, unbuttoned dining.

A stone’s throw from the University of the Arts and Norwich Playhouse Theatre, it feels perfectly placed for those who like their evenings with a dash of culture and a glass in hand.

In the kitchen, classic brasserie craft meets confident, modern flair. Playful openers set the tone: think Japanese milk bread with Marmite butter, while a twice baked Binham Blue souffle or Shetland scallops with leek top espuma speak to technique and texture as much as flavour.

Mains show a sure hand: pan roasted Barbury duck breast with pomme puree, cavolo nero and beetroot gets a lift from spiced port and plum jus, while a local fillet of beef arrives with beef fat potato pave, kale and a Norfolk Spore braised lion’s mane accent under a glossy bordelaise. Desserts keep the conversation lively, from a Paris Brest layered with hazelnut praline and dark chocolate cremeux to a bright yuzu tart brûlée with matcha ice cream.

With its easy charm and lively hum, The Last makes a fitting stage for Norwich’s finest evenings. Book a table, linger over the good stuff, and let The Last have the last word in taste.
