lunch

Housed in a Grade II listed building on Wilmslow Road, The Wild Alderman brings a spirited neighbourhood pub to the heart of Didsbury.

Opened in July 2025, it nods to village heritage in name and character, paying tribute to Fletcher Moss while keeping things comfortably contemporary. The historic setting and relaxed pace make it a natural hub for after-work pints, family Sundays and easy-going suppers.

In the kitchen, hearty pub cooking leads the way. Snacks like marinated olives, hummous and flatbread, wild mushroom butter with bread, and ham hock croquettes with piccalilli set the tone, followed by comforting classics such as fillet steak with buttered greens and shepherd’s pie with peas.

Sundays are done properly: roast chicken with sausage stuffing, 28-day aged rump of beef with horseradish, or stuffed baby squash with vegan gravy, all served with crisp roasties, honey-glazed roots, seasonal greens and Yorkshire puddings.

Add cauliflower cheese or braised red cabbage, then finish with sticky toffee pudding, rice pudding with spiced apple or chocolate torte with clotted cream.
