The Wild Alderman

Housed in a Grade II listed building on Wilmslow Road, The Wild Alderman brings a spirited neighbourhood pub, tap house and eatery to the heart of Didsbury. Opened in July 2025, it nods to village heritage in name and character, paying tribute to Fletcher Moss while keeping things comfortably contemporary. The historic setting and relaxed pace make it a natural hub for after-work pints, family Sundays and easy-going suppers.

Run by the team behind Beartown Brewery, the bar champions independence with a rotating line-up of cask and keg ales, alongside a thoughtful wine list spanning crisp Italian whites, elegant rosé, generous French and Spanish reds, plus Prosecco and Champagne for celebrations. Regular quizzes and live music add to the buzz without losing that welcoming local feel.

In the kitchen, hearty pub cooking leads the way. Snacks like marinated olives, hummous and flatbread, wild mushroom butter with bread, and ham hock croquettes with piccalilli set the tone, followed by comforting classics such as fillet steak with buttered greens and shepherd’s pie with peas. Sundays are done properly: roast chicken with sausage stuffing, 28-day aged rump of beef with horseradish, or stuffed baby squash with vegan gravy, all served with crisp roasties, honey-glazed roots, seasonal greens and Yorkshire puddings. Add cauliflower cheese or braised red cabbage, then finish with sticky toffee pudding, rice pudding with spiced apple or chocolate torte with clotted cream.
