Take your tastebuds to faraway lands without leaving London

Asian fusion is on everyone's lips and we're increasingly looking for these tastes in our own neighbourhoods. Interested in trying a new Japanese spot, or has Burmese food interested your tastebuds? Let these restaurants on First Table fly you away to faraway lands without leaving London.

Double Dragon

Double Dragon is a beautiful blend of a traditional Japanese bar and European bistro dining. Located in Central London, this Japanese Izakaya boasts a wide variety of Japanese dishes designed to share. Created by culinary legend Scott Hallsworth, you're spoiled with the likes of yellowtail sashimi, beer-marinated beef tataki, BBQ pork belly and marinated black cod with plenty of refreshing yoghurts.

Lahpet

If you're not sure what Burmese cuisine looks like, allow us to give you an idea. Coconut noodles with chicken, pork belly and sour bamboo curry or the King prawn curry, with tomato, spring onion and pae pot greens, make sure you order multiple dishes so you can try more. Lahpet Covent Garden and Lahpet Shoreditch are as authentic as it gets.

Foley's

Modern Asian fusion with a twist is Foley’s in Fitzrovia. Diverse but comforting, the starters include wagyu skewers, aromatic duck or mushroom buns, and ginger calamari. For mains, try something new with their brisket curry, tamarind duck or vegetarian aubergine black baan dish with bamboo heart and tofu. The street side bar brings you into a peaceful interior with cosy booths, perfect for bringing people together.

MBER

MBER opened its doors on the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London, and has been designed with this in mind. With items such as ‘weeping tiger’ fillet steak salad, char-sui pork doughnut and miso glazed pork belly on the menu, this restaurant is a must visit in Pudding Lane.

TOKii

Combining East and West in their Japanese plates, TOKii serves much more than just sushi. Designed to be shared, the menu features the likes of beef tataki, tuna tartar and green tea soba noodles, laced with ginger and soy. Alternatively, warm up with their fresh pumpkin soup, vegetable tempura or wagyu skewers. And that's not even the mains, with crispy pork belly or miso glazed back cod needing your attention.

Tonkotsu

Filling bellies all over London with hot, comforting ramen, Tonkotsu has 13 locations on First Table across London. Choose from six types of ramen (cooked for 32 seconds to be precise) like their signature tonkotsu ramen or their new miso mushroom ramen. Then customise it to your taste with an array of add-ons like a seasoned egg, crab or pork belly. Make sure you save room for their pork, prawn and shiitake gyozas.
