Holy Guacamoly brings a breezy hit of Latin flair to Tooting Broadway Market, in South West London, its playful name matched by a menu that prizes bright, layered flavours. Think crisp corn tortilla with homemade guacamole for dipping and grilled padron peppers to nibble, setting the tone for unfussy plates that deliver smoke, spice and freshness in equal measure.

Taco lovers are well served. Slow-cooked cuts meet lively salsas and cool accents, from braised ox cheek lifted with pico de gallo, guacamole, crème fraiche and sweet chilli to barbecue pork sharpened by spicy avocado, spring onion and pickled red cabbage. It is a balance of soft, crunchy, tangy and rich that invites a second round.

Beyond the tortillas, the kitchen turns to crowd-pleasing comforts: chilli prawns with fries, or a rump steak dusted with smoked paprika, cumin and garlic. Greens are anything but token, with an elote mixed salad and the intriguingly named chill prawn salad bringing corn, avocado and heat into the mix. Sides keep the flavour dial up, from fries that can be loaded with barbecue beef to corn on the cob kissed with chilli.

Whether swooping in for bites and a couple of tacos or settling into a generous spread to share, this is easy-going eating with character. Book a table, bring an appetite, and let the guac do the talking, holy moly!
