Another gem from the Gladwin Brothers has hit suburban London in the form of Nutborne. Showcasing the very best of British and local produce, this particular offering focuses on flame-grilling, and it's every bit as thrilling as it sounds.
A five-minute walk away from Battersea Park, Nutbourne enjoys a leafy outlook that is complemented by its farm-inspired interior. Beautifully rustic and modern at the same time, the worn wooden tables, playful decor and immense gazebo that's decked with hundreds of fairy lights compliment its farm-to-plate ethos. A lush slice of the countryside in one of the trendiest boroughs, Nutbourne has charm by the haybale.
The food is brilliantly British from start to finish. Ease into the evening with a trout gravadlax anointed by a dill dressing, a whole-baked truffle Tunworth with chewy sourdough or handpicked scallops with a helping of black pudding.
The mains herald our British farms, starting in the Southeast with the Sussex sirloin with horseradish cream and the roast gammon with a traditional parsley sauce. You'll find all their roast meats originate from their family farms in Sussex which place sustainability above all else. And the flame-grilling? Well, it does due justice to some of the best produce our fair isles have to offer. Finally, it has to be the salted caramel chocolate torte. 'Decadence' in look, taste and feel, no cheat day is complete without it.
