At 56 Westow, the cooking is bold, generous and travel inspired, drawing on Mediterranean and North African flavours through a confident, contemporary lens.

Relaxed, flavour-led and full of personality, this is the kind of place that invites you to linger and settle in. The food here is designed for sharing and savouring, where spice and citrus brings brightness and slow-cooked, savoury notes add depth and comfort.

Small plates set the tone from the outset, with warm hummus swirled with harissa and finished with pickled red onions, made for scooping with crisp bread, and crisp chicharrones served with a smoky chorizo, orange and cumin sauce that lingers beautifully.

The menu opens out into heartier dishes, from the signature 56 steak, a well cooked sirloin with shallots and classic mushroom sauce, to a spiced chickpea and celeriac tagine layered with red kale, gremolata, pine nuts and apricot.

Sides are far from an afterthought, with patatas bravas dusted in rosemary salt and lifted by lemon aioli, and rainbow carrots glazed in harissa and maple, balanced with a cooling spoon of labneh. Desserts lean towards Spanish comfort, whether it is a burnished slice of burnt Basque cheesecake with fig reduction or a slice of tarta de Santiago.

Relaxed, flavour led and full of personality, 56 Westow is the kind of place that invites you to linger, order one more dish and finish on something sweet. Book in, arrive hungry and let the kitchen do the rest.
