Babur is regarded as South London’s institution of Indian dining and has been a treasured fixture in the dining scene for almost four decades. It's a testament to their hospitality and culinary know-how.

Not content with serving food from just one corner of India, Babur has made it their mission to provide a delicious overview of the vast country. And their sparkling restaurant is just the place to celebrate the best Indian food this side of London. Elegant in more ways than one, Babur presents its modern interpretation of the bistro with geometric, illuminated walls that cause delight and intrigue, and their eye for detail when it comes to table settings and the presentation of the food itself. Babur is impressive on every score.

Experience brand new flavours and textures from as early as the starters with the likes of beetroot cutlets with mango chutney, goat shoulder tikka with cumin puffs and Dunga quail breast with a mango mustard sauce. Going beyond the predictable samosas and pakoras, Babur is putting a fresh spin on this ancient cuisine. And it doesn't stop there; mains are designed to tantalise with Punjabi stone bass, Rajasthani Khargosh and garam masala duck. They also pay homage to unlikely meats, like venison, with the venison hunter curry that is rich and creamy with sweet potato and tamarind.

To make your dining experience even more unforgettable, they also include wine pairings with every single dish, meaning that you can enhance already sublime flavours with a glass of crushed grapes. No wonder Babur has been going strong for so long!

"This popular Indian restaurant has been thrilling locals with its creative cooking since 1985. Named ‘Best Fine Dining Restaurant’ at the 2023 Asian Curry Awards for good reason, this Forest Hill favourite offers clove-smoked lamb chops, griddled scallops and crab bonda to start and the likes of garam masala duck and punjabi stone bass fish with a chana masala yoghurt kadhi for mains." - Time Out

"“Overall this is serious food from a serious chef served in a stylish but welcoming environment by staff who bring pride and professionalism to the whole evening, and what an evening. I don’t care if you have to look up Forest Hill on a map (in the interests of disclosure, and never having lived outside zone 1, I confess I did), if you are interested in Indian food, or really unusual haute cuisine and do not make it to Babur then you are simply missing out on one of London’s more unusual and interesting places. So don’t miss out. Just go.” - The London Economic

"Babur might just be my new favourite restaurant in the capital." - The Know Media
