Rani Vegetarian has been a Finchley favourite since 1984, a family-run ode to Gujarat-style home-cooking in North West London.

Dedicated to fresh ingredients and honest flavours, it celebrates the comforting heart of vegetarian Indian food, served with the unhurried warmth of a long-established neighbourhood spot. Rani features a relaxed ambience and a handy Finchley Central-area location make it a natural choice for casual suppers and easy-going group gatherings.

The menu leans into the pleasures of simplicity done well: crisp plain or spicy pappadom to start; vibrant chaat such as aloo chaat poori; and snack-time classics like onion bhajias.

Bowls of Gujarati dal and tarka dal offer soothing depth, while vegetable-led curries, from matar gobi to chana masala, capture the generosity of the kitchen. Plates are rounded out with plain basmati rice or a fragrant vegetable biryani, and there is plenty to scoop with chapatis, naan, methi roti or a flaky paratha.

Local, loved, and reassuringly timeless: Rani Vegetarian invites you to settle in, share generously, and savour slowly. Book a table and let comfort take centre stage. Second helpings encouraged.
