In the heart of Crouch End, Bar Esteban hums with the easy confidence of a neighbourhood favourite. Founded in 2013 by Stephen Lironi, chef Pablo Rodriguez and manager Naroa Ortega, the trio brings authentic Iberian flair to a much-loved North London spot.

The menu leans into tapas tradition while gently nudging it forward. Think salt-cod croquetas, prawns al ajillo, chipirones and fried aubergine drizzled with honey, all designed for passing around the table. Jamon ibérico de bellota and an iberian charcuterie board underline a clear devotion to quality and provenance.

Vegetables and seafood shine just as brightly. Beetroot salad with ajoblanco and grilled cauliflower dressed in mojo verde sit comfortably alongside grilled halibut with Basque piperrada and arroz con pulpo. Heartier plates follow with crispy pork belly with mojo verde and chargrilled chicken with romesco sauce, ending with a slice of Basque cheesecake to round things off beautifully.

Relaxed yet stylish, Bar Esteban suits both impromptu catch-ups and considered date nights. It is a place to linger, graze through the menu and let conversation unfold naturally. Pull up a stool and settle in for a taste of Spain in North London.
