Cuisine: A La Carte, European, French
Price Point: Mains from £10-£20

Specialising in cuisine from South-West France with a taste of their laid back lifestyle to match, Monsieur Le Duck is a dreamy vacation in the heart of London.

Their ethos is simple: 'douceur de vivre', which translates to 'sweetness of living', a lifestyle where long dinners and sun-soaked patios form the basis of everyday life. Wistful right! With their rustic interior complete with exposed brick, a gorgeous wraparound cocktail bar and a glazed roof, you might find this lifestyle very appealing!

The menu is short but carefully considered, delivering the best of bistro dining in Gascony. Needless to say, it's a paradise for duck-lovers. Begin with bread and duck fat butter or some confit duck croquettes. Move on to the crème de la crème of duck dishes, like Confit De Canard, Magret de Canard or a Duck Burger. Although duck is the main point of attraction, there's a Vegetable Tart as well as Moules Marinieres for those who fancy something different.

Complete your meal with a classic Crème brûlée and finish with a shot of duck fat washed Armagnac. Bon Appetit!

Reviews

On our trip through Gascony, the first stop was the starter selection. A duck wing unable to get any crispier, warm croquettes filled with luscious potato and duck meat, and a duck meat terrine served with crisp bread and sweet onion jam.

We meandered our way on to the main event of confit de canard, the skin decadently crisp, still glistening with the oil it had been pan fried in. The meat was salty and fell away from the bone making it a delight to eat. The bone was gnawed upon. Absolutely no shame here.

We felt it was only fair to sample the duck's breast since we had devoured the leg already. It was perfectly pan roasted, the fat rendered so as to add only flavour and not leave you with tough gristle in your mouth.

Complimenting our meat, we ordered both the green beans, swimming in a soup of heavenly garlic butter and the seasonal greens which held a bite and made us feel healthier (ignoring the lardons sprinkled on top).

The end of our French trip was nearing so we finished with a bang. A bittersweet dark chocolate mousse was thick and satisfying to the mouth. Airy cream provided a contrast to the rich chocolate. The tarte aux pommes was enough for two, with a smooth, silky apple filling and crisp roasted apple slices on top.

Throughout the meal, the brilliant staff were attentive and ensured we were looked after. I can only recommend Monsieur le Duck highly and encourage everyone to take the same journey through Gascony as we did.

I had already seen people posting about their experiences at Monsieur Le Duck and only raving about its perfection. My friend and I pre-ordered the duck wellington which is well worth it for the sharing between 2 option. The duck was perfectly moist and absolutely delicious. We could hardly finish off our side dishes. The service was great because everyone was attentive and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. We had a great time! Next time I will be back to try the beef burger!

Wow such a nice dinner we had!

The croquettes warm and soft packed full of flavours, super comforting. The confit duck wing and leg were devine! Duck breast was cooked to perfection. Truffle fries, cauliflower and greens made for nice sides. And the pinot noir I had went very well with the meal.

In short, great food, lovely ambiance and very friendly attentive service. Strongly recommend!

Wow. Wow. WOW! This restaurant is absolutely faultless. As two duck fanatics we were in our element dining at Monsieur Le Duck where the food is divine and the staff are delightful. Pre-ordering the duck wellington (requires 48 hours notice) was one of the best decisions we've ever made - it is cooked to perfection and melts in the mouth! The tactician in me wouldn't write a review so I'd have less competition for the first table here in future but this restaurant deserves praise of the highest order. You simply have to go! We have been twice already this month and you can bet your bottom dollar we'll be back for a third visit in the near future. Thank you to all the team at Monsieur Le Duck for another wonderful experience.

This place was incredible!
Even if we were paying full price it would be amazing value!
The duck was amazing. (And I’m a duck fanatic).
We had the fried cauliflower, garlic green beans and some bread as sides.

It was delicious and a pleasant dinner. Service was a bit slow but then we got the starter for free so definitely made up for it. Overall a very positive experience :)

Nice restaurant tucked away behind Farringdon. Very quiet on a Friday but I guess that’s the area. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was nice enough, though portions were very small.

Incredible meal.
Had the bread with duck fat butter to start, I had no idea butter could taste quite this good. The grand jeu followed, possible too large for two people, but everything tasted amazing. The duck burger has perfectly balanced flavours, the confit is light with a perfectly crispy skin. Definitely would return.
