Housed within the grand surrounds of the Grade II-listed Old Westminster Fire Station, Yaatra is a modern Indian restaurant that blends heritage charm with contemporary culinary flair. Just a short stroll from Victoria station, this character-filled venue offers a dining experience that’s as visually striking as it is gastronomically exciting.

Now part of the prestigious boutique Indian restaurant group 1947, Yaatra benefits from the creative direction of Chef Patron Krishnapal Negi, a celebrated name in London’s fine-dining scene. Under his guidance, and with Executive Chef Amit Bagyal at the helm—formerly of Michelin-starred Benares and Mayfair’s Kanishka—the kitchen delivers a refined culinary journey through India’s diverse regions. Dishes are thoughtfully crafted, balancing bold, aromatic spices with elegant presentation. Starters might include Amritsari fish or a delicately spiced calamari pepper fry, while mains range from a rich lamb shank biryani to fragrant Kerala-style turbot. Vegetarian and vegan guests will also find much to savour, thanks to creative interpretations of classic Indian dishes.

The setting is warm and theatrical, with plush velvet seating, opulent floral details, and a sense of quiet grandeur throughout. Service is polished but friendly, and the atmosphere suits everything from romantic dinners to celebratory group gatherings. A well-curated drinks menu complements the food, offering both innovative cocktails and fine wines, while desserts add a playful yet refined end to the meal—think flambéed fruits and reimagined Indian sweets.

For those looking to enjoy a stylish and flavourful evening in central London, Yaatra offers a distinctive and memorable destination—where centuries of tradition meet the creativity of modern Indian cuisine.
