dinner

Set next to the Thames, Butlers Wharf Chop House celebrates the great British love of meat and fire, tempered by a modern conscience. The mood is straightforward and confident: dark sourdough with Jersey butter to start, perhaps an oyster brightened with lemon, shallot and red vinegar, then on to the main event.

At its heart are steaks and chops treated with due respect. A juicy rib-eye glistens from the grill, while a chateaubriand to share invites unhurried conversation. There is a pork chop paired with muscovado apples, and an ethical burger that speaks to the kitchen’s sourcing. Classic sauces, from béarnaise to green peppercorn, bring familiar comforts, and sides like beef dripping chips and charred tenderstem broccoli round out the table. Sundays follow suit with free-range half chicken and ethical beef, a quiet nod to beloved roast traditions.

The experience is designed for appetite and occasion, whether a midweek grill or a leisurely weekend feast. Diners will find a generous, unfussy rhythm to the meal, the sort that rewards time well spent. Book a table, gather good company, and let the clink of knives and conversation do the rest. Come hungry; leave happily ever after.
